Art needs an appropriate built environment within which it can be showcased to greatest effect, while architecture needs art to turn bricks, steel and concrete into a space in which people want to live, to learn, to shop and to work.

In this webinar we will examine the inter- relation between art and architecture through the works by architects on the panel.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS

Prof Charanjit Singh Shah Architect, planner & infrastructure experts with 5 decades of practice. He is the practicing architect, planner, author, scholar, educationist, teacher, art & architecture critic & practicing in creating sustainable green architecture. He is author of many books in Architecture & recently authored “Redefining Indian Sustainable Smart Cities”

 

Tosin Oshinowo is a registered Architect in Federal Republic of Nigeria and a member of the Royal Institute of the British Architects.  She has been principal Architect at cmDesign Atelier (cmD+A) since 2012.  cmD+A is an architecture design consultancy practice based in Lagos and is best known from the Maryland Mall, which opened in June 2016.Tosin is an award-winning amateur photographer and has worked in a professional capacity on public art design installation in Lagos. Her written work includes an article on ‘the reclamation of public space in Lagos’, which was published in October 2012.  She took part in the Playable Cities Lagos workshop with the Watershed Art Center, Bristol that was organized by the British Council Lagos in March 2016.  She is a founding member of the ‘African Alliance for New Design’ (AAND), a think-tank that explores the value of design for the current generation of creatives on the continent.

 

Ar. Gurpreet Singh Shah is an architect, planner & infrastructure expert with an experience of local and international architecture and urban design for more than a decade, and a gold medalist from Columbia University in Urban Design. He is currently the Principal Architect at Creative Group, New Delhi. With his vision to deliver a new generation of Airports and Mass transit facilities that are sustainable and also give a world class travel experience, Mr. Shah has pioneered sustainable infrastructure designs in India.
